DIY Ideas for Last-Minute Preparation This Halloween

Halloween is a holiday that many adults love, partly because it helps to break the monotony of day-to-day life and gets people thinking outside the box. After all, who doesn’t love dressing up as a favorite superhero or an off-the-wall character for an afternoon or evening?

However, if you haven’t spent a lot of time preparing for Halloween and just don’t have a lot to give, there are still some last-minute ideas that you can employ. Use them and you’ll have a great time with friends or family this Halloween season.

  • Make your own Halloween costume. A good old standby costume is the classic ghost. Just get yourself a clean white sheet and cut some eyeholes in it. Cinch the waist with a belt.
  • Carve pumpkins in a freeform pattern. Carving shapes and designs can be hard and very time consuming. When you light a freeform pumpkin, you’ll get unique shapes cast on the walls.
  • Abit of drinks may work well. Mix a big batch of cocktails if you’re going to be having a party so you don’t have to spend a ton or play bartender all night. What’s your best bet for Halloween? The classic bloody Mary, of course. Spiked blood orange punch also works well.
  • Make a Halloween scarecrow for your party. Using a garden tool like a rake and some old clothes, you can craft your own scarecrow. A festive scarf and pumpkin head will complete the look.
  • Prepare large batches of food for Halloween parties. Pigs in a blanket with ketchup look like bloody fingers and gummy worms are the perfect candy for a spooky Halloween night.
  • Make your own chocolate candy. Molds in the shape of bats or even witches are easy to buy, and bulk chocolate can be melted in the oven. Wrap them in plastic when finished.
