Attractive Decoration Ideas for the New Year Party

If you are throwing a New Years Party, then you may have considered putting up extra Christmas decorations beforehand. However, you may want to consider doing things differently this year, especially if all your guests will be accumulating in the dining room and front room. Here are some examples of what you can use.

  • Decorative food. Sugared almonds and cleverly-iced cakes and biscuits lend pretty pastel hues to blond wood and pale rooms. Sticking to frosty, icy blues, mint greens and the palest of powder pinks gives your table a real wow factor. If your home decor tends towards darker colors or a more country style, gold leaf and plenty of reds and greens, and ribbons look wonderful.
  • Fresh foliage. If you have access to seasonal greenery such as holly or other evergreens, they can often bring a holiday scent as well as look to your decorations. If berries are lacking and you need a splash of color, spraying pine cones with metallic paints in red and gold are easy and will make any room pop!
  • Individual place settings. Perhaps the most effective and thoughtful thing you can do for guests at a formal New Year dinner party is to personalize the place settings. Crisp napkins tied with a colored ribbon, name cards with elegant calligraphy and an individual beautifully-wrapped small gift for each setting gives your party a real personal touch.
  • Don’t forget the drive up to your home either. Pretty lanterns along the front walkway are very welcoming or if you prefer, strings of outdoor LED lights in trees or along your windows. Just a few small decorative touches will make your New Years party festive.
